According to a report from the Hezbollah-affiliated Al Akhbar newspaper, Egypt has been given “US guarantees” that Israel will refrain from initiating any ground operations in Rafah until at least mid-May.

The assurance stands firm, even in the event of unsuccessful negotiations for a prisoner exchange deal, as stated by Egyptian sources.

Furthermore, measures are being devised to manage the civilian population in Gaza, aiming to prevent upheaval in the region preceding any potential ground intervention.

Al Akhbar’s report indicates a shift in Israel’s stance regarding a prisoner exchange agreement, particularly concerning the repatriation of Gazans to northern Gaza and the specifics of the terrorists to be released in exchange for female IDF soldiers.

Previously, Israel had purportedly consented, as per Al Jazeera’s report, to a phased return of Gazans to northern Gaza, with a quota of 2,000 individuals per day, commencing a fortnight after the initiation of a ceasefire.

Additionally, Egyptian sources reveal Israel’s insistence on establishing a communication system with the hostages held by Gaza-based terrorist factions, aimed at ensuring their welfare.

  1. O.K. So the US of A won’t fight against Hamas till mid May. Fine, no sweat. Why Israel (italics) is expected to allow every last adult terrorist out and who knows what other “treasures” to be left behind, just to satisfy Biden a.k.a. Obama, is incomprehensible. So, Egypt, there are no guarantees in life.
