[Video below.] Williamsburg, Brooklyn – A large fire in the basement of a Satmar Bais Medrash and multiple dwellings in central Williamsburg broke out at about 4:30 a.m. today, rendering significant damage. Boruch Hashem, no people were injured.
The fire broke out at the Satmar bais medrash at 109 South 8th Street, between Bedford Avenue and Berry Street. The bais medrash is utilized by the kehillah of Rav Zalman Leib Teitelbaum of Satmar.
A crowd of onlookers and passersby gathered at the scene as FDNY, Hatzolah and Shomrim units all worked in tandem to get the second alarm fire under control and extricate all occupants from the apartments above the shul. All Sifrei Torah were removed in time, boruch Hashem, as can be seen in the video below. Seforim and tashmishei kedushah were, unfortunately, destroyed in the blaze.

Next year there should be a special Hakofoh with these Sifrei Torah B’H’Y

The Gemara says that a fire seldom takes place unless there is some form of chillul Shabbos, c”v.
