very nice, but chazal had other definitions of ‘pirsumei nisa’!!!
I wonder if there are some people in far flung places who think all Jews light menoras from cherry-pickers.
Actually, if you don’t use the Shamash to light the other neiros, then you light that last.
There are so so many things wrong with this video. First, the proper blessings are not recited. If you’re going to recite the blessings, do it right! Second, even the one blessing that is recited is sung as a song, which we never do. Third, the song contains Hashem’s real Name, and that makes it a beracha l’vatala, a blessing in vain, because it is not being said as a blessing but rather as a song. Fourth, the blessing/song that is said is said on the wrong candle. It should be said on the one on the extreme right, whereas it is being said on the Shamash, the server candle, in the middle. You don’t compromise with halacha. I don’t buy the excuse that it was the U.S. Marine Band. They should have co-ordinated with them. What do you expect when you have “The President’s Own” Marine Band. Anything Obama touches becomes corrupted.
Who made it the ‘national menorah’? Did all American Jews take a vote ?
Music is way too loud!
R’ Shlomo,
Very nice, but we B”H have the Godol of Gedolim to instruct us as to the intentions of chazal.
What ever happened to “mitzvas Chanukah, nair ish u’baiso”?
Long live Lubavitch!
Its a nice token to see a menorah lighting at the White House.
