Yesterday, a seudas bar mitzvah was held in the Mea Shearim neighborhood of Yerushalayim for Shmuel Roth, grandson of former Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, son of his daughter, Noa, and his son-in-law, Reb Doniel Roth.

The joy was twofold, when, at the event, Shmuel surprised the guests and made a Siyum HaShas on Gemara.

The bar mitzvah bochur is a talmid at Talmud Torah Darkei Shmuel. His rebbi remarked that he has been teaching children for years and has never met a child who is as gifted and diligent as Shmuel Roth.

The rebbi also remarked that Shmuel is very persistent, always learns during breaks, and after school continues his studies at Bais Midrash Yeshuas Ya’akov in Meah Shearim.

Shmuel started learning Shas when he was ten years old and has now completed it at the age of 13.

  1. Beautiful!

I will note, however, that the boy’s family is Breslov. Rav Nachman held that one should learn Gemara like someone reads Tehillim, without understanding, and that eventually one will understand.

As such, it is safe to assume that the boy finished Shas using the Breslov Derech Halimud.

I’m not saying anything against Rav Nachman or his Derech halimud. Rather, I’m saying that the boy finishing Shas should be understood in the proper context.
