  1. Please make sure this driver gets disciplined and has to take a course to re-certify his bus license.
He obviously didn’t either wait for the girls getting on the bus to move up the stairwell and find their seats

I am grateful that we live in Toms River – their bus drivers do not leave the stop until every child is seated and BUCKLED.

  2. To Enough- it seems to be absolutely impossible for the driver to have seen this. Remember how high up th driver is and that the hood completely blocks his view of directly below.

  3. To “Enough “

“Attempted Murder”??!! While he certainly wasn’t careful enough, it certainly doesn’t reach the level of murder!

    • The fact that the boy was B”H saved, doesn’t take away the fact that the driver was irresponsible. A driver has a tremendous achrayus to double and triple check before he puts his bus in drive. What would guys like be saying if Ch”v the boy was killed? What would you be saying if the driver was shachor?

      • How was the driver supposed to check for something that he physically couldn’t see? The parents are to blame for not teaching their children to not run in front of a bus.

  4. if you look closely the bus picked up children on the other side of the road ( bus door site ) probably that’s the original bus stop and the driver was focusing on the children coming up the bus and not on the child running straight in to the front of the bus from the opposite direction.

  5. Don’t know why they don’t start having TWO yellow sticks that open from BOTH sides of the bus!!! Over here the child is coming from the left side of the bus and the stick opens on the right side, and if you look good on the video, not only doesn’t it block him from being beneath the hood, it appears to have knocked him down!!

  6. BENEFITS OF REAR ENGINE BUSES

    1. WEIGHT SAVING & REDUCTION IN POWER LOSS
    Rear Engine Buses
When loaded, buses get traction thanks to being rear wheel drive. A transmission or drive shaft are necessary if the engine is at the front as a result of this. This will ensure that the back wheels and engine are connected. Power loss and an increase in weight are the result of having to put in a transmission shaft. A rear engine prevents this and is better overall for the bus.

    2. NOISE REDUCTION
The front engine can cause more noise due to the engine partially going into the bus cabin. The engine is fully separated by the cabin, therefore, reducing noise naturally when it is in the rear of the bus. Sound absorbing materials can also be used to further silence engine sounds.

    3. DRIVER VISIBILITY
The nonexistence of a front engine allows for a lower front glass to aid in enhancing visibility and comfort for the driver.

  7. Instead of faulting the driver, how about asking where was the adult supervision of this child? Why was he allowed to run in the street alone without any adult supervision?

  8. This was not the driver’s fault! He was focused to his right, making sure everyone was on the bus so he could close the door and pull out. He could not have, at the same time, been looking to his left to see if a child was running in front of the bus. That is the responsibility of the parents, to be waiting with a small child on the side of the bus that the children will be boarding from, or, if not, to escort the child in front of the bus. You can see that the child was hidden in front of the bus when the driver pulled out. I would not blame the driver at all in this case and I think that’s what the investigation will bear out. I am afraid that the parents will be held responsible. I feel bad for them but it is their fault. Chasdei Hashem the child is ok.
