The NYPD is trying to identify a man who casually stole bracelets worth nearly $100,000 from a Midtown Manhattan jewelry store, police said.
The suspect entered the Rafaello & Co jewelry store on West 47th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenue on the afternoon of July 30 and started browsing the store’s wares. While the jewel thief stood beside a bracelet display, he peered around the store, sensed nobody was watching and quickly reached behind the case and grabbed 19 bracelets, police said.
The stolen goods are valued at $97,000, police said. After pocketing the merchandize, the thief calmly exited the store, police said.
