Yerushalayim to Launch Solar-Powered Shabbos Electricity

With the involvement of Mayor Moshe Leon, Yerushalayim plans to launch an unprecedented project to provide solar-powered electricity for those who follow the Chazon Ish’s ruling against using electricity produced through chillul Shabbos.

Until now, many have been using noisy and officially illegal gasoline generators for Shabbos electricity.

The Energy and Religious Affairs ministries have earmarked $600,000 to develop a “kosher electricity” project to produce and store solar power.
