911New York City’s emergency dispatch system crashed for two hours on Monday, leaving operators to write down calls on paper and then call Emergency Service Technicians on the radio.

The system prioritizes emergency calls and then assigns teams, but has faced problems in the past. In October, failures in the dispatch system was found to have been responsible for the death of two young children by the Department of Investigations. Read more at DNAinfo.
