Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, campaigning in South Carolina Tuesday, told The Washingon Post that former Gov. Mitt Romney should release his taxes to determine if he “actually” paid a 15 percent tax rate.
Gingrich also suggested that his 15 percent flat tax plan should be renamed “the Mitt Romney Flat Tax.”
“Then all Americans could pay the rate Romney paid — I think that’s terrific. Since my flat tax is 15 percent I’m thrilled at the idea that Mitt… I assume this afternoon will endorse my flat tax proposal and have every American pay at the rate he paid. I think that would be terrific.”
