  1. Obviously this survey was conducted amongst the secular population,but as the Orthodox are meant to have a somewhat higher birth rate,or so we are led to believe,can’t imagine for one moment that too many of these names are chosen amongst those circles.

  2. This is not true. Mohammed is the number one boy’s name in Israel.

    Also FYI: Israel is bragging that there are now more than 6 million [ken yirbu] Jews living in Israel. Remember that there are 8.9 million people. That’s over 30% non-Jews. Plus, I’m afraid that all the recent olim from Russia [FSU] and Ethiopia are also mistakenly included among the Jews. Rav Moshe Feinstein poskined that the Ethiopians are not Jewish. [Except those that did a proper geirus.] Estimates are that anywhere from 30% to 70% of Russian immigrants are not Jewish.
