obamaPresident Barack Obama penned a letter to Democrats arguing his case for the nuclear deal with Iran in an effort to reassure lawmakers who might be concerned about backing the proposed accord, The New York Times reported.

In his latest effort to boost support, Obama reiterated his stance that the U.S. would maintain economic pressure and deploy military options if Iran failed to meet the terms of the agreement.

“Should Iran seek to dash toward a nuclear weapon, all of the options available to the United States—including the military option—will remain available through the life of the deal and beyond,” he wrote.

The letter, addressed to Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) – who, as reported earlier here on Matzav, came out in support of the deal – is the first time the president has presented the administration’s argument under his name and in writing, White House officials said. Read more at The New York Times.
