It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rabbi Meir Goldberg z”l, head of the Vaad Hakashrus of Flatbush.

Rabbi Goldberg was an outstanding talmid chochom and a noted kashrus expert. For years, he headed the kashrus division of the Vaad Harabbonim of Flatbush, which later became known as the Vaad Hakashrus of Flatbush.

Rabbi Goldberg’s knowledge, kindness, insight and acumen will be missed by the many people who knew him, relied on him, sought his advice, and admired his ehrlichkeit.

The levaya is being held now at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Fairview, NJ.

Yehi zichro boruch.

  1. BDE. Rabbi Goldberg cared deeply to make sure he held the highest standards of kashrus and that he would assist the klal to do the same. Many sought his counseling and were helped by him, which he dedicated his life to. He will be greatly missed. May he be a mailitz yosher and storm the heavens with his pleas for Moshiach.

    A truly Gentleman !
    His knowledge will be missed!

  3. When I lived in Flatbush many years ago, I had the zechut of sitting next to Rabbi Goldberg in shul in the Talmud Torah of Flatbush. He was a wonderful rav with whom I consulted on issues of kashrut. Yehi Zichro Baruch.

  4. The world has truly lost a bright, shining light, as his name indicates. This was a man with infinite patience for the needs of others. Whether you called at 9 am or 11 pm, he would listen with patience and gave you warm support and advice. He gave of himself to help strangers and friends alike. His dedication to his family and community were unwavering. He was a giant of a man, this loss hurts deeply. May his neshama have the highest aliyah and all the mitzvos he did on a constant basis be a z’chus for him and his children and grandchildren.
