At a convention of the Shlomei Emunim faction of UTJ in Ukraine, accountant Arik Adler, treasurer of the Bnei Brak municipality, spoke of a 2015 survey that found that 51% of chareidi men work compared to 87% of the general population, and that 74% of chareidi women work compared to 80% of other women, leading to a total of 62% working people in the chareidi population compared to 83% in the general population.

But he noted that 40% of chareidim volunteer for one cause or another, twice the percentage for the general population. He argued that adding the statistic of volunteer work to that of regular work narrows the difference between chareidim and the general populace by about 6%.
