The U.S. ambassador to Israel during the Trump administration lambasted Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., for remaining silent while police stormed Columbia University to remove anti-Israel protesters.

A contingent of police officers, wearing helmets, made their way onto the main campus of Columbia University, in the heart of New York City. Their objective was to clear out a building that had been barricaded by student protesters expressing anti-Israel sentiments.

“Tonight New York City is aflame with antisemitism. @SenSchumer — where the …. are you? This is your city and you are the self-proclaimed guardian of the Jewish people. Crickets …,” former Ambassador David Friedman vented on X, highlighting Schumer’s absence during the crisis.

While several other politicians, including House Speaker Mike Johnson from Louisiana and Republican members of Congress, made visits to Columbia University this week to condemn the disruptive actions of the protesters, President Joe Biden and Schumer, who holds the highest-ranking position as a Jewish elected official in the U.S., have maintained their distance.

Earlier, Schumer did address the situation at Columbia from the Senate floor, expressing his views on the matter.

“Smashing windows with hammers and taking over university buildings is not free speech. It is lawlessness. And those who did it should promptly face the consequences that are not merely a slap on the wrist,” Schumer asserted. “Free speech, discussion, and even strong disagreement are fundamental American values, and campuses should be places where those values are cherished.

“Campuses cannot be places of learning and argument and discussion when protests veer into criminality and those who commit such acts are doing nothing to convince others that their cause is just.”

  1. What do you mean, Where are you, Schumer? Aren’t you aware that actors must follow the script, they cannot do or say whatever they want?

  2. The senator has more important things to do than worry about a little bit of demonstrations going on in the city. He is a senator. He works for the government. He does not get bogged down in little disruptions in the city that is for the lower level government people to take care of.

    • he is a worthless excuse of a human being. He hasn’t, doesn’t and won’t accomplish anything beneficial for humanity.

  3. Schumer is a rasha merusha who has taken himself out of kllal Yisroel. He is an evil member of the erev rav.

  4. It’s more important that he call for the downfall of Netanyahu’s government than help solve problems that the Democrats themselves have created now if this was a demonstration by Trump supporters, we would have lots of investigations and possible solitary confinement for the evil doers who dear speak out against us but if you’re doing it to a bunch of lowly Jews, no big deal
