Nikki Haley, former U.N. Ambassador, indicated in a Sunday interview that she no longer feels compelled to honor a pledge she made to the Republican National Committee to support the GOP presidential nominee.

When questioned by NBC News’ “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker, Haley stated, “So you’re no longer bound by that pledge?” to which she responded by asserting her autonomy in endorsing former President Donald Trump if he secures the Republican nomination.

Haley emphasized her focus on making independent decisions, stating, “No, I think I’ll make what decision I want to make, but that’s not something I’m thinking about,” and noted that “if you talk about an endorsement, you’re talking about a loss. I don’t think like that.”

She added, “When you’re in a race, you don’t think about losing. You think about continuing to go forward.”

Despite further questioning regarding her stance on endorsing Trump for the upcoming GOP presidential primary, Haley evaded a direct response, redirecting attention to broader electoral strategies and refraining from committing to a specific endorsement.

This stance represents a shift from her earlier position, notably in July, when she indicated on Fox News that she would support Trump to avoid a potential presidency by Vice President Kamala Harris in the event of President Joe Biden’s incapacity.

During the fall primary debates organized by the Republican National Committee, Haley, like other candidates, signed a pledge to back the eventual Republican nominee, reflecting her earlier commitment to party unity.

However, in her recent interview, Haley criticized the RNC’s alignment with Trump, describing it as “Trump’s” RNC, highlighting the organization’s transformation since the debates.

Despite Ronna McDaniel remaining as RNC chair, Trump has endorsed Michael Whatley and Lara Trump to assume leadership roles within the organization.

Haley has taken a more critical stance towards Trump in recent weeks, denouncing him as “unhinged” and expressing concerns over his diminished stature.

  1. She thinks because she won 1 State, she has a chance to win the Presidency.

  2. So just unilaterally unbound from her pledge?
That’s not how things work usually.
I never really had a strong feeling either way on her candidacy, but this is not how you demonstrate strong moral character.
I’m not accusing Trump or Biden of having strong moral character either, but wasn’t she trying to prove that she is different?

  3. Her commitment was not made to Trump. It was made to the Republican party who Trump refused to make any similar commitments to. At the time she made the commitment most Republican candidates were also making that commitment. Had any of them won she would have kept it. She should not have made a one sided commitment but she did under duress. Were Trump to act with even a modicum of decency towards her I would expect her to keep it. Given the way he actually acts that is asking too much of her

  4. Does she think for 1 moment that after 8 years of Trump’s hard work in draining the swamp, the country would allow another Deep Stater to be in control?

  5. Typical woman. She doesn’t know when enough is enough. Acting like a spoiled petulant child. She apparently enjoys living in La La land as she kills any political aspirations of hers for the future.

  6. Just like she’s backtracking now, so she will backtrack on her pledges if she would ch”v win. But she would not win – ever. The Americans have woken up to these Deep State criminals and would never allow it to rule them again.

  7. The title of this article:
Nikki Haley Says She’s No Longer Bound By RNC Pledge To Endorse Trump If He Wins
    does not reflect the truth.

She did not say anything of the sort. All she said is that she’s not going to make statements about what she would do if she lost when she is still focused on winning. Would you have reported that likewise, Mr. Trump did not say that he is bound by RNC pledge to endorse Ms. Haley is she wins?
