National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir expressed a firm stance Wednesday evening, advocating for the dissolution of the War Cabinet.

“In Gaza, we witness the sight of numerous individuals leisurely bathing along the coastline. Meanwhile, to the north, Hezbollah discerned the apparent inertia of the cabinet in response to the barrage of missiles launched by Iran into Israeli territories. This emboldened them to escalate their aggression, resulting in casualties among our soldiers,” stated Ben Gvir.

He emphasized the urgency to disband the current cabinet structure, denouncing the policies of containment and proportionality. Ben Gvir asserted the necessity to assert dominance over adversaries. He lamented, “As long as the present approach of the cabinet persists, achieving absolute victory becomes increasingly elusive.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Yediot Acharonot disclosed that Shas chairman Aryeh Deri championed a more moderate stance, opposing a direct assault on Iran in both the War Cabinet and the expanded cabinet. This contrasted with Ben Gvir’s position, who alongside fellow ministers, advocated for a robust and impactful response.

Ben Gvir had previously pressed for inclusion in the War Cabinet or representation thereof but was met with refusal.
