Biden Did Not Actually See ‘Confirmed Pictures Of Terrorists Beheading Children’ As He Claimed, White House Clarifies

President Biden made a statement on Wednesday regarding “confirmed pictures of terrorists beheading children” in southern Israel, in response to reports suggesting that as many as 40 infants were brutally murdered over the weekend near the Gaza Strip, controlled by Hamas. However, the White House later revised the President’s assertion.

During a meeting with leaders of Jewish groups at the White House, President Biden, 80 years old, expressed his astonishment, saying, “I never really thought that I would see and have confirmed pictures of terrorists beheading children. I never thought I’d ever — anyway.”

A spokesperson from the White House subsequently clarified that neither the President nor U.S. officials had seen such images or independently verified reports of beheaded children. The White House stated that President Biden based his statement on information provided by a spokesperson for Israel’s Prime Minister and media reports originating from Israel.

The disturbing reports came to light on Tuesday as the Israeli military granted journalists access to areas heavily affected by a surprise attack launched by Hamas on Saturday morning. This attack resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 civilians and Israeli soldiers, with around 150 people believed to have been abducted. Among the casualties were at least 22 Americans, while 17 others remained unaccounted for.

Shortly after the event, a senior national security aide from the White House informed reporters that he had not seen the images referred to by President Biden. Another White House official directed attention to comments made by Tal Heinrich, a spokesperson for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Heinrich had informed CNN that babies and toddlers were discovered “decapitated” in the community of Kfar Aza. The Israeli Defense Forces, while unable to officially confirm the reports, stated that they could be assumed to be true.

Yossi Landau, an official with Zaka, an Israeli volunteer civilian emergency response organization, attested to witnessing children and babies who had been beheaded. He noted the gruesome nature of what he had seen but found it difficult to describe.

Nicole Zedek, a reporter for i24NEWS based in Tel Aviv, was the first to report the allegations of child beheadings and expressed her dismay at the initial skepticism from the public. She shared the horrifying details of the discovery, emphasizing the severity of the situation.

The IDF circulated a graphic image online, showing a blood-stained mattress belonging to an Israeli child, with blood splatters on the wall and the footboard covered in red.

During the event, President Biden preemptively addressed questions from reporters, particularly regarding his efforts to bring home U.S. captives taken to Gaza. He mentioned that disclosing details might hinder their return, assuring that his administration was actively working to achieve this goal.

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, in a regular White House briefing on Wednesday, indicated that the number of Americans believed to be held hostage was very small, possibly less than a handful, but cautioned that the situation could change over time.

President Biden has been avoiding press questions in various contexts since Hamas’s significant attack on Israel. He faces growing bipartisan pressure from Congress to reconsider his decision to authorize the release of $6 billion to Iran, which has reportedly been linked to the planning of the attack.
