A body was found this morning in Lake Shenandoah at the 143-acre Lake Shenandoah County Park in Lakewood, NJ, the Lakewood police department confirmed to Matzav.com.

On Erev Shabbos, shortly before 6 p.m., police received a report that a swimmer at Lake Shenandoah might have disappeared. Witnesses claimed that a man was seen struggling in the water while swimming before disappearing beneath the surface.

A comprehensive search and rescue operation was launched, and state police used sonar to scan the 48-acre lake. A helicopter, as well as dive teams from surrounding towns such as Brick and Howell, joined the Water Rescue Team from Lakewood in the search. They found no evidence of a human body and the search concluded at about noon on Shabbos, at which time the lake was reopened to the public.

At about 7 a.m. today, a body was seen floating in the lake. The body was recovered by authorities, who are conducting an investigation.

Misaskim and related services have thus far not been needed for this case.

  1. “On Erev Shabbos, shortly before 6 p.m., police received a report that a swimmer at Lake Shenandoah might have disappeared. Witnesses claimed that a man was seen struggling in the water while swimming before disappearing beneath the surface.” And it wasn’t investigated then???

  2. It sure was investigated but nothing came up even with all the underwater searching. So they assumed it was a lie and no one reported a missing person
