A quarter of Israelis infected with the coronavirus contracted it by going to shul, according to figures released by the Ministry of Health on Tuesday.

According to the data, 24% of the patients were thus contaminated while going to the places of prayer, while 5% caught the virus in yeshivos.

Other hotspots of contamination were hotels (15% of infections), restaurants (12%) and supermarkets (7%).

In light of these figures, pressure has increased on the Chief Rabbinate of Israel to ban tefillos in the country’s shuls.

  1. What a crock of lies!!! They did a study and tracked the virus spread?? They went into the shuls and yeshivos and had the men fill out a survey’s? So according to this non-sense only men should be sick in the first wave??? I am a physician and have been screaming to close the shuls for weeks but for the Health Ministry to spread lies and venomous statements is truly SAD!!! True there was unnecessary exposure and peoples lives were put at risk and it was likely wrong to keep and still keep them open but don’t make up “facts” and print them as truisms.

  2. why ” only 3 deaths ( ofcourse one is also alot) but new york w double the population has a 100x that
what are they doing diff. that their fatality rate is so low?
isreal is stlll having legal minyanim…. yeshivos were opened longer …. so why arent they R”L going at a fast rate

also why does queens have about as many cases as brooklyn ?
    SO MUCH UNKNOWN

  3. This borders on the absurd. How in heaven’s name is it possible to determine with any definitude from whom a person contracted the disease? And from being in which building? Do those who go into synagogues not also go into supermarkets? Do they not travel on crowded buses? Stand at traffic lights? Visit doctors’ offices?
