Aryeh Deri, the chairman of Shas, asserted this evening that the ongoing discourse within the Israeli political sphere concerning the reestablishment of Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip is inflicting “significant damage” upon the communities of Judea and Samaria. In an interview with Kol Hai radio, he expressed, “Anyone discussing relocating the population and the resurgence of Jewish settlement is causing serious harm to Judea and Samaria, needlessly reigniting the Palestinian issue.”

Deri emphasized the importance of careful consideration of words within the political arena, citing the recent debate in The Hague as a prime illustration. “Today in The Hague, we witnessed how every statement can be exploited. MKs, exercise caution with your words,” he advised, urging politicians to think before they speak.

He pointed out that the previously perceived threat before Simchas Torah is no longer present. The strategy is now to maintain a significant presence in the Gaza Strip for an extended period, ensuring the elimination of the threat and the absence of Hamas leaders. Deri clarified, “The primary objective of the war imposed upon us is to eradicate the threat emanating from the Gaza Strip. The enormity of the challenge is evident – 550 kilometers of tunnels and tens of thousands of fighters. No nation has confronted such a formidable adversary.”

“The main goal of the war that was imposed on us is to remove the threat that emanated from the Gaza Strip. Everyone understands what we are dealing with. 550 km of tunnels and tens of thousands of fighters. No country has faced such a thing,” he said.
