The U.S. government’s attorneys, while determining what they want to be redacted from the affidavit supporting the FBI’s search warrant for former President Donald Trump’s Florida estate, will “cherry-pick” what they want to be released, but items that are unfavorable to Trump will be allowed to be released, Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax.

“They will not redact anything unfavorable to Trump,” Dershowitz explained. “They will redact things that are favorable to Trump. They’ll claim national security.”

Dershowitz said that U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart, who signed off on the FBI’s search warrant, will not allow Trump’s lawyers to be present when determining what should be redacted, as “then they would find out the names of informers.”

  1. When informed of Dershowitz’s assertion that the U.S. government’s attorneys will “cherry-pick” what they want to be redacted from the affidavit, one yeshiva bachur, currently enjoying his summer vacation, told reporters: “Cherry picking?! Wow! So the feds are ALSO looking for something to do during bein hazmanim?!”
When informed of Dershowitz’s comments that the feds will claim that their cherry picking activities are necessary to protect national security, the bachur said: “Wow! I never knew cherry picking picking was a national security issue! And all this time, I thought I was merely engaging in a relaxing American Pastime.”
“Had I known the serious and vital nature of cherry picking,” he added, “I would have said a few kepitelach of tehilim before venturing out to pick cherries!”
“Could it be,” the bachur hypothesized, “that George Washington’s act of chopping down the cherry tree was actually a secret national security issue, which only he himself was privy to? We’ll never know.”
