A 13-year-old boy made it to the news this month after her mother rallied to raise money to afford the treatments that doctors promised can save his life. Eliyahu was diagnosed with cancer in his brain a few weeks ago and the doctors need to treat it ASAP but his family cannot afford it. Recently Eliyahu’s condition has gotten worse.
The difference between life with treatment and without is massive: If Eliyahu can get treatment, he can live. He could be a happy, healthy kid. The other side of the coin, however, is dark: Without the medication, he will almost certainly die. The Yakobis have no options for raising the $50,000 necessary to save their son’s life. So, they have turned where many others have: Crowdfunding. Their written plea for help includes a heartbreaking picture of Eliyahu during the initial stages of his sickness. Tragically, the way he looks then, and how he looks now just a few weeks later, simply does not look like the same kid.
