Rudy Giuliani, on Friday, entered a plea of not guilty to the charges lodged against him in Georgia. These charges allege that he, alongside former President Donald Trump and other individuals, engaged in illegal activities to overturn the 2020 election results within the state.

In submitting his not guilty plea to the court, Giuliani, the former mayor of New York and legal representative for Trump, also opted to forego his right to attend the arraignment hearing scheduled for September 6. Giuliani follows suit with the former president and a minimum of 10 other individuals in abstaining from making a physical appearance in an Atlanta courtroom, a scene likely to be inundated with spectators and news cameras.

Both Trump and Giuliani find themselves among the 19 individuals named in a comprehensive, 41-count indictment. This indictment outlines a broad conspiracy aimed at undermining the will of Georgia’s voters, who had chosen Democrat Joe Biden over the incumbent Republican.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, the prosecutor who brought forth the case under Georgia’s anti-racketeering law, has expressed her intention to have all 19 defendants face trial collectively. Nevertheless, a legal dispute has already initiated a flurry of court filings following the indictment’s submission on August 14.

Several of the accused parties have submitted motions, requesting separate trials or joint proceedings with a select group of co-defendants. Simultaneously, others are pursuing a shift of their cases to federal court.
