Top US infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci is hinting at retirement as cases of COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations remain low, the NY Post reports.

“I have said that I would stay in what I’m doing until we get out of the pandemic phase, and I think we might be there already,” Fauci told ABC’s “Start Here” podcast. “I can’t stay at this job forever. Unless my staff is going to find me slumped over my desk one day; I’d rather not do that,” he added.

The 81-year-old Fauci’s remarks come as he’s under fire from conservative lawmakers who feel the pandemic restrictions he’s pushed have gone too far.

  1. I have said that I would stay in what I’m doing until we get out of the pandemic phase, and I think we might be there already

IOW There is no longer any more kovod or power for me to make off Corona so I’m out of here

  2. Probably the greatest civil servant this country has ever known. Advisor to seven Presidents. Saved uncounted numbers of lives. He deserves thanks, not “good riddance”.

    • Can you identify a specific thing that Fauci which saved lives?

Can you identify a specific thing he ever said or did that any small time in his position could not have said?

All I remember him ever saying or doing during Corona was sayin “no” No you can’t do this and no this proposal to help won’t work. Never did he come up with a solution of his own. Never did he figure out a way to mitigate issue

He had the good fortune of being in the right place at the right time. Otherwise no one out of the medical community would have ever heard of him. We had the bad fortune of him being the person in that place and time

    • Read the book “the Real Anthony Fauci” by Robert Kennedy junior, published this year. He wants to retire before he lands in prison with a life sentence.
