Google said it changed software for its self-driving cars after one crashed into a bus in California in February. The company said Monday it bears “some responsibility” and would meet with California’s Department of Motor Vehicles to determine who is at fault.

The car was taveling at 2 mph when it pulled out in front of a public bus moving at 15 mph in Mount View, Calif., near Google’s headquarters, on February 14.

The test driver inside the car assumed the bus would slow down to allow the car to merge into traffic and therefore did not override the car’s self-driving computer, Google said in a statement. The incident may be the first time one of Google’s autonomous cars is at fault for an accident. Read more.
