Nikki Haley, Republican presidential candidate and former South Carolina Governor, has advised caution regarding Hamas’ recent release of two hostages, suggesting that this is an attempt by the group to curry favor with the United States. In an appearance on Fox News, Haley said, “First, I’ll say, two prayers have been answered, and we’ve got 200 more to go. The second thing I’ll say to the Biden administration is: Don’t fall for it.”
“This is what they do,” she added. “They’re trying to earn favor with the United States.”
On Friday, President Joe Biden announced the successful release of two Americans, Judith Raanan and her daughter Natalie Raanan, who were held hostage by Hamas, with Qatar and Israel involved in securing their release.
“So what they’re doing is, they’re going to throw two hostages out there for one, to see if they can weaken us to keep Israel from going into Gaza, and two, because they want to see if they can get something out of it,” Haley said.
She called for prudence on the part of the Biden administration, emphasizing the need to remain resolute and not let recent developments weaken the United States. “This is a time to be smart.”
Haley also reminded that there are still 200 more hostages and referenced the events of October 7 as significant reminders.
“Don’t let this weaken us,” she said. “We’ve got 200 more hostages in there, and don’t forget what happened on Oct. 7.”
Antonio Guterres, the head of the United Nations, has called for an immediate end to the conflict, stating, “We must act now to put an end to the nightmare.”
