New York Governor Kathy Hochul met on Sunday with the grand rabbis of Satmar and Skver, the leaders of the prominent Chassidic sects in New York as she competes for reelection in the November 8 statewide elections.
The governor met separately with the Satmar Rebbe, Rav Aaron Teitelbaum, who resides in Kiryas Joel in Monroe but is on vacation in Forshay, Monsey, NY this week. She was joined by senior administration officials, the Satmar Rebbetzin and community leaders.
The discussion surrounded the interests of the Jewish community across the state which the governor and her staff have been very helpful in accommodating. These issues include visitation rights in hospitals, education in non-public schools, the Kiryas Joel water pipeline and other key issues to the Jewish community.
The Satmar Rebbe thanked Gov. Hochul for her support and compassion and sympathy for the Jewish community since entering office.
Hochul also met with the Skverer Rebbe, Rav Dovid Twersky in New Square, and with yeshiva administrators.
Recent polls show the race for governor tightening as candidates are courting the influential Jewish voting blocs, though Hochul has maintained her lead over Lee Zeldin, the Republican nominee.
Governor Kathy Hochul holds an 11-point advantage over Rep. Lee Zeldin according to a Siena College poll but other Republican polls show a tighter race.
Early voting starts on October 26. Election Day is on Tuesday, November 8.

Besides, how can these leaders agree to support someone who openly supports abortion, bail reform, the loosening of hate crime protection among other key issues : not to mention the attacks on our Yeshiva system? Are we so blind?

One thing I can say after last night’s debate anyone that endorses or votes for Hochul is a total fool. I watched the debate on You Tube I was shocked there were hundreds of comments almost every single one in support of Zelden. If these mosdos endorse Hochul after the yeshiva debacle then I lost all my respect for these useful idiots.
