Grafton Thomas is incompetent to stand trial on hate crimes for the machete stabbing attack he carried out in Monsey on Chanukah, according to a psychiatrist.
Grafton’s attorney, Michael Sussman, said today that he has asked a federal judge to hold a competency evaluation for Thomas.
The AP reports that the U.S. Attorney’s Office has two weeks to respond to the application for a competency evaluation.
Thomas has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and hate crime charges in the December 28 attack.

why is it insane? maybe its true?
Not that i’m buying it. But you cant argue on emotion, is there supporting evidence to the contrary? Also, it doesnt take away the treachery of his actions, it just means he was insane.
Furthermore. It does no benefit to anyone that he is actually guilty of doing this heinous crime as a sane person. The knee jerk reaction to the concept that it was anything less than cold blooded perposeful, sane, calculation helps no one.

It’s important to know what’s being disseminated. Anything less than that is injustice, and it clouds the truth which must be exposed for what it is.

Please note that this awful Sasquatch was in and out of treatment for 20 years, which is yet more evidence that the current mental health system does not work.
Furthermore, contrary to popular belief, schizophrenics and other mentally ill ARE capable of controlling their more frightening impulses. Many actually do hear voices telling them to hurt/kill themselves or others, but refuse to do so because it violates their value system. That’s what the schizophrenics themselves say.
But as society loses its moral compass and also as people in general find it so easy to access hateful and violent literature, movies, and video games – all filled with other immorality – this worsens any mental illness. People don’t have a value system to balance out their negative states.
I say he’s perfectly fit to stand trial. It’s not insanity that led him to hack into the sweet old man, Yehosef ben Perel; it’s ruthlessness & immorality.
May all the victims (especially Mordechei ben Bracha & Yehosef ben Perel) merit a complete and speedy refuah.

I think anyone who does what he did is insane. He needed an evaluation to tell us he’s insane? Why does that not make him liable for his deeds?
As long as he doesn’t attack his own kind he is sane enough to be locked up
so now he will be released to the public since he has the ‘right’ to refuse treatment–which has, anyway, been meaningless in the past–to prey on everyone with impunity
Well I guess we should just give him the death sentence as he clearly cannot be let out to the streets as he may have another need to do an anti-Semitic “Attack”…
If so, he should be locked up in a mental health facility.
