Footage depicting a series of airstrikes on a Syrian nuclear reactor was released Wednesday by the Israel Defense Force, 10 years after the bombing took place.
The IDF is now officially admitting, for the first time, that it carried out that strike – codenamed operation “Outside the Box”, on the night between September 5th and 6th, 2007.
The Israeli intelligence community had been monitoring the site for two years. The preparations for the strike took more than 6 months, with secrecy a top priority, even within the departments of the Israeli army and air force. Nearly complete at the time of attack, the nuclear reactor was set to become operational just 3 months later.
