Rising inflation and other factors have boosted home rents by 8% over the past year, the highest annual rate since 2008 with no end in sight, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported.

Tenants are complaining of rent hikes from landlords, who need to keep up with the rising interest rates of the National Bank.

During a discussion held by the Knesset Labor and Welfare Committee of the Knesset in which Chairman Yisrael Eichler called for a budget of $276 million for food vouchers, it was revealed that over 530,000 families, amounting to 976,000 people and 665,000 children, live in food insecurity.
