According to former White House chief of staff John Kelly, former President Trump is feeling extremely fearful after pleading not guilty to federal charges related to classified materials. In an interview with The Washington Post, Kelly stated, “He’s scared… This is the way he compensates for that. He gives people the appearance he doesn’t care by doing this.”

After his arraignment in Miami, Trump made an appearance at a local restaurant to greet supporters before returning to his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, where he delivered a speech to an enthusiastic crowd. During the speech, Trump launched a scathing attack on Special Counsel Jack Smith, the person responsible for bringing the 37-count indictment against him. Trump referred to Smith as a “deranged lunatic,” a “thug,” and a “raging and uncontrolled Trump hater.”

Kelly, commenting on Trump’s situation, remarked, “For the first time in his life, it looks like he’s being held accountable. Up until this point in his life, it’s like, ‘I’m not going to pay you. Take me to court.’ He’s never been held accountable before.”

Since leaving the administration, Kelly has grown increasingly critical of his former boss. He reportedly described Trump as “the most flawed person” he has ever known.
