The judge overseeing the NY v. Trump trial in Manhattan has given former President Trump the green light to attend his son’s graduation ceremony in Florida next month.

“I don’t think the May 17 date is a problem,” remarked Judge Juan Merchan during Tuesday morning’s court session, referring to Barron Trump’s impending graduation.

Trump had been advocating for weeks to be present at his son’s graduation on May 17. However, a final decision on the matter was pending until Tuesday. Earlier this month, Trump expressed concerns that he might not be permitted to leave Manhattan for the event, labeling the trial as a “scam.”

The logistics surrounding whether trial proceedings will be halted on May 17 or if Trump will simply be absent from the courtroom remain uncertain. May 17 falls on a Friday, coinciding with Barron Trump’s graduation from a private high school near the Trump family’s Mar-a-Lago estate in southern Florida.

As of Tuesday, Trump finds himself embroiled in the ninth day of his ongoing trial in Manhattan. The charges against him include 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records. Testimonies from three witnesses have been heard so far, featuring individuals such as former American Media Inc. CEO David Pecker, former Trump Organization senior vice president Rhona Graff, and former First Republic Bank senior managing director Gary Farro.

In a recent development, Judge Merchan ordered Trump to pay fines totaling $9,000 for repeatedly violating a gag order prohibiting him from publicly discussing witnesses and family members of court officials. The judge outlined that Trump had breached the order on nine separate occasions, resulting in fines of $1,000 for each violation. Additionally, Merchan cautioned that further “willful violations” could lead to more severe consequences, including possible imprisonment if deemed necessary.

  1. This is a real old picture of President Trump and his son as his son is now a head taller than his father.
