A woman says she will suffer from diarrhea for the rest of her life after the weight loss drug Ozempic caused her a “life-threatening bowel injury.” The unnamed woman is one of a dozen plaintiffs suing Novo Nordisk, the pharmaceutical company that manufactures Ozempic and its sister drug Wegovy, after developing the rare condition gastroparesis as a result of Ozempic injections, according to The Daily Mail.
Gastroparesis affects normal movement of the stomach muscles and can cause nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain; the woman’s case reportedly required an eight-hour emergency surgery to attempt to repair her colon. Post-procedure, she said she was told by doctors that she “will never have a solid bowel movement again,” and is suing Novo Nordisk for failing to adequately warn users about the risks of gastroparesis on the drug’s packaging.
It’s unclear whether she was using Ozempic for its original purpose as a diabetes treatment or as a quick-fix weight loss drug. Read more at The Daily Mail.

Calm down. You’ve posted the same comment 3 times already. That is the maximum that will be allowed.
I’m not going to go off on a tirade against “all those people who take drugs instead of eating healthy”, because, as someone who struggles with their weight I know how difficult that can be for people. There are quite a few people who turn to these drugs as a last resort, because just dieting didn’t work for them. So I’m not judging anyone.
But I do believe the reason why she was taking it makes a world of difference here. If she is diabetic, and taking meds to help with her condition, then she has way more what to complain about than if she was using it for its side affects.
I am fully aware of all the possible side affects of the medications I take, including the rare ones. I accept that possibility because not taking these medications means I’ll definitely have health issues. But I would definitely think much harder if I’m taking them for off-brand benefits that are not health critical. And if some side affects are not even disclosed, then we have a problem in any situation…
That should help her keep her weight off. What is she complaining about?
And to be honest here, how many people who go get those once weekly injections actually read the pamphlet that explain the side effects.
