Liberal Jewish Paper Apologizes For Pro-Israel Ad

A left-wing Jewish newspaper apologized for publishing an ad for the Dorot Fellowship in Israel that offered a free, all-expenses-paid year in the Holy Land.

“This ad is not in line with our values as an organization dedicated to reporting on and opposing Israeli human rights abuses,” Jewish Currents said, adding that it was returning the money for the ad and immediately beginning “a critical evaluation of our ad processes and policies.”

Strangely, the paper and the fellowship both receive funding from George Soros, whose Open Society Foundation has the objective of “challenging Israel’s racist and anti-democratic policies” in international forums.

Despite receiving funds from the anti-Zionist New Israel Fund, DFI describes itself as “a community with a wide range of political, religious and social beliefs.”

Jewish Currents opposes the rights of Jews to live in the West Bank and pray at its holy sites, and supports BDS and the Palestinians’ so-called right of return.
