Avigdor Lieberman, leader of Yisrael Beytenu, appears to have shifted his stance, now advocating for early elections to establish a new government in Israel.
“I gave the government credit for five months, but after the last ten days, the government has no right to exist and we must have elections,” he told Army Radio.
Lieberman contends that the current government lacks the cohesion necessary to govern effectively, citing the inability of its members to present a unified message. He implies that the recent coalition tensions surrounding the enlistment of ultra-Orthodox individuals mark the culmination of its downfall.
Directing his remarks towards Benny Gantz, the Minister of Defense, Lieberman expresses his anticipation for Gantz and his National Unity party to acknowledge the government’s demise.
Previously, in January, Lieberman emphasized the importance of national unity, opposing the idea of elections as he believed they would only deepen divisions within the country.
