The Chassidic centers of Vizhnitz and Nadvorna in Bnei Brak became centers of food and refuge for tens of thousands of people who came to Bnei Brak for the levayah of Maran Rav Chaim Kanievsky zt”l.
Approximately 750,000 people attended the levayah.
Starting in the early morning hours, an influx of thousands began to descend upon the Vizhnitzer Bais Medrash in Bnei Brak. On the orders of the Rebbe, the entire building was transformed into a center of chesed for the masses who came from outside the city.
People flowed through the building throughout the day, taking a moment to rest and receive light refreshments and drinks.
At the same time, at the Nadvorna Bais Medrash in Bnei Brak, hot food was served to thousands of participants in the levayah. The Chassidus announced during the levayah that the public is invited to come and dine at the bais medrash after the levayah.
The Vizhnitzer Rebbe – who participated in the levayah at the corner of Rechov Damesek Eliezer and Ezra – instructed his Chassidim to make sure that there was plenty of food and drink available.
Indeed, immediately after the levayah, thousands converged on Vizhnitz and Nadvorna, the display of generous chesed and selflessness a site to behold.
