An emotional scene unfolded in London when the Vizhnitz-London Rebbe paid a special visit to Ahuvim, an institution serving special-needs bochurim, spending considerable time encouraging its students ahead of the Yomim Noraim.

While Rebbes are especially busy during this period receiving their Chassidim and preparing their communities for the approaching Yomim Noraim, the Vizhnitz-London Rebbe set aside time for a lengthy visit to the institution, where he offered warmth and encouragement to its students.

During his visit, the Rebbe spoke to the bochurim about the extraordinary value of their pure neshamos and the power of their heartfelt tefillos. He then joined the children and bochurim in singing traditional niggunim of the Yomim Noraim, creating an atmosphere of joy and spiritual elevation.

The students subsequently passed before the Rebbe individually to receive his brocha for a shana tovah. The Rebbe presented each of them with honey as he wished them blessing and success for the coming year.

The most emotional moment, however, came as the Rebbe prepared to leave. Rather than departing surrounded by his gabbaim in the customary manner, the Rebbe chose to walk out accompanied by one of the institution’s special-needs students, taking the young man by the hand as they walked together.

Rav Yosef Koren, one of the administrators of Ahuvim, described the unforgettable scene and the reaction of the student’s mother.

“This young man is his parents’ oldest son. His mother, who was standing at the time in the women’s section and saw the Rebbe walking hand in hand with her oldest son while openly showering him with affection, burst into tears from emotion,” Koren recalled.
