Israeli Prime Minister Binyomin Netanyahu declared Wednesday that Israeli forces will remain positioned along the Gaza Strip’s Yellow Line, saying Israel currently controls 60% of Gaza and intends to continue its operations until Hamas is fully disarmed and the territory can no longer threaten Israel.
Netanyahu made the remarks during a visit to an IDF installation near the Yellow Line, where he was joined by IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asor, and 99th “Bazak” Division commander Brig. Gen. Elad Tzuri.
While at the site, Netanyahu received detailed operational briefings from commanders stationed in the area. The discussions covered current IDF activity along the Yellow Line, continuing military missions, efforts to eliminate threats, and measures being taken to safeguard Israeli troops and nearby communities.
“We control the territory. You can see Ashkelon from here; you can see all of our communities in all directions: Sderot, Netivot, and the kibbutzes. We are not withdrawing. We are staying on this line,” the Prime Minister declared.
Netanyahu said Israel’s military presence in Gaza extends well beyond the Yellow Line and indicated that additional operations are planned as the IDF continues targeting terrorists.
“We control 60% of the Gaza Strip, and there is more to come, because we are eliminating the terrorists who threaten us. We are doing so day in and day out. Yesterday we took the head of Hamas’s general security service. We will certainly learn some things. But we are doing everything to reach our goal: disarming Hamas and demilitarizing the Gaza Strip. Gaza will never be a threat to Israel. This goal has effectively been reached, and there is still work to be done, and we will complete it.”
