New York Senate Leader Surrenders to FBI

New York Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos and his son surrendered to the FBI this morning to face federal charges related to corruption.

Skelos is the highest elected Republican in the state and is the second top lawmaker to be charged this year: Sheldon Silver, the House leader, was arrested in January for allegedly taking kickbacks from a law firm.

Skelos and his son are reportedly under investigation for business dealings with an Arizona-based sewer company that was awarded a contract despite not being the lowest bidder. Read more at The New York Times.
