New York State Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein, who represents New York’s 48th State Assembly district, published a video in which he urged car wash operators not to overcharge their Jewish customers before Pesach.

“Last year, it was brought to my attention that some local car wash operators, throughout our neighborhoods, have been increasing their prices in a discriminatory manner for their Jewish customers before Pesach,” he said, Arutz Sheva reports.

Eichenstein noted that he is “specifically addressing car wash operators because of the bias and discrimination in deliberately charging their Jewish customers more for the same service that they provide to non-Jewish customers, because they know that we are obligated to clean our cars before Pesach.”

“It is illegal to raise the price for a particular service solely for one religious community at a specific time of year, while the prices remain reduced for everyone else. This is wrong. It is unethical and, above all, it is illegal,” he stated.

“I want to inform you that I have been in contact with the Attorney General’s office again this year, and they will be re-issuing a consumer alert along with a reporting hotline,” continued Eichenstein.

“My message to community members is this: Be careful. Before you agree to a car wash, check the price and confirm with the attendant. Make sure that the services provided for the Passover special are priced comparably to the same, similar services which are not officially Passover services. If you see a discrepancy, speak out. Let them know that the discriminatory practice is illegal and that you are not going to stand for it.”

To the car wash operators, Eichenstein said, “Charging more for your services before Pesach is not only taking advantage, it is blatant discrimination and is illegal. I can tell you, the Attorney General’s office will be watching. You have been warned.”

  1. The car wash is a minor factor in the pre-Pesach budget and if you can’t afford it then vacuum your car yourself or pay some kids on pre-Pesach vacation to do it for you.

How about going after the Kosher Supermarkets for raising their prices each year before Pesach on the same exact items they sell all year?

  2. “It is unethical and, above all, it is illegal,” he stated.”
    Being a politician affects a Yid’s outlook.

It is illegal and, above all, it is unethical.

  3. The filth that amasses in the typical jewish car is 10 times that of the typical goy that goes for detailing, and they want it spottless.
So I think that this is very fair, not discriminitory.

  4. How silly. Now we know why the car-washes refuse to do a special perfect Pesach cleaning. Same price like the whole year equals the same job like the whole year.

  5. I can tell you, the Attorney General’s office will be watching. You have been warned.”

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! The Assemblyman is very funny. Our FIRST African American female abortionist Attorney General, Letitia James, is very very busy and obsessed with former President Trump’s personal tax returns dating back to 1978. Ms. James couldn’t care less about some stupid car wash ripping off those lowly worthless Jews.

  6. The non-Heimish suppliers/Distributors work on a 5-7 % profit margin.
Why are the Heimish ones working on a minimum of 25% and upto 40% markups?

    • Car washes are the least of our petty problems. The price gouging of the matzah bakeries, THAT IS THE OUTRAGE!!!

    • because non heimish suppliers/distributors dont pay for a yeshiva education or purchase their food from heimish stores. they have the same expenses we do. frumflation exists across all businesses and industries, not just food.
