The government should create a ”quick reaction force” of federal law enforcement and/or National Guard members to secure the U.S. Capitol and Washington, D.C., in general at a cost of $40 million to $130 million per year, a task force appointed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., recommends.

“We recommend establishment of a robust, dedicated QRF, not only for the USCP, but to serve the nation’s capital writ large,” the report by Task Force 1-6 says.

The group was led by retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré, who has called for Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., and former Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf to be ”run out” of Washington and also accused some of the Capitol Police for being complicit in the Jan. 6 breach of the Capitol.

The force would be a round-the-clock operation but a size was not specified.
