While thousands of people usually flock to the Kosel on Tisha B’av, restrictions put into place due to the coronavirus outbreak have forced authorities to limit attendance to just 1,000 people.

Police will allow 50 minyanim comprised of 20 people each in the Kosel plaza, with all individuals maintaining 6 feet of distance from each other at all times. If the crowds become too large, police will be on hand to disperse them.

Israeli police say this will be guarding all access to the Kosel on Tisha B’av, and have advised people to come to the Kosel via public transportation rather than personal vehicles.

The Kosel Heritage Foundation said it will be distributing cake and water to mispallelim when the fast is over.
