A 19-year-old was arrested by federal authorities in Queens on Thursday for allegedly plotting to carry out an ISIS-inspired knife attack in the borough, law enforcement sources said.
The suspect, who lives in Jackson Heights but was not immediately identified, exchanged text messages with undercover agents and mentioned carrying out the attack, according to the sources.
“There is no current public safety issue as a result of the arrest,” the Eastern District of New York prosecutor’s office said in a statement announcing the arrest.
