Rabbi Yaakov Dovid Tannenbaum z”l, a Holocaust survivor who was one of the founders of the town of Meron in Eretz Yisroel, passed away at the age of 100.

Reb Yaakov Dovid was born in Slovakia, a son of Reb Shmuel Tannenbaum. He endured the Holocaust and survived. He was sent to a yeshiva in Paksh, Hungary, and had the privilege of learning bechavrusa with the Erlauer Rebbe. He lost most of his family members in the Holocaust, and he himself miraculously escaped the camps.

When he ascended to Eretz Yisroel, he became one of the founders of the yishuv in Meron. He would recall his fascinating experiences during the War of Liberation, when he was a young soldier fighting in northern Israel.

He leaves behind a family following in his ways.

The levayah was held outside his home and he was buried in Meron.

Yehi zichro boruch.
