It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Avner Moshe Pincus zt”l of Bnei Brak. He was 79.

Born to his parents, Rav Chaim Avrohom and Rebbetzin Orah Pincus, in his younger years he studied at Yeshiva Bais Hatalmud in New York under Rav Aryeh Leib Malin. Later, he moved to Eretz Yisroel and studied at Yeshivas Brisk, headed by Rav Berel Soloveitchik.

Rav Berel Povarsky of Ponovezh, a nephew of Rav Malin, said that his uncle once remarked, “It would have been worth establishing Bais Hatalmud if only for the bochur Avner Pincus.”

Rav Avner Moshe married Rebbetzin Nechama Rivka, a daughter of Rav Shraga Grossbard, mashgiach of the Ponovezh Yeshiva Ketana and head of Chinuch Atzmai.

He lived for many years on Bnei Brak’s famous Rechov Rashbam, where he was a regular at the Lederman Shul and one of the neighborhood’s distinguished figures.

He spent his days and nights toiling in Torah at Kollel Brisk in the Krechnifer Bais Medrash on Hasheloh Street together with other renowned talmidei chachomim.

He served as a R”M at Yeshivas Kaminetz and headed Mesivta Nishmas Chaim in Modi’in Illit.

A significant chapter in his life was the period he spent teaching Torah in Switzerland, where he was a rosh kollel for ten years.

He was a brother of Rav Shimshon Dovid Pincus zt”l, the late rov of the Torah community in Ofakim and one of the great baalei mussar of the generation.

Rav Avner Moshe is survived by his second wife, sons and daughters, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His was interred on Har Hamenuchos in Yerushalayim.

Yehi zichro boruch.
