Rav Shelomoh Eliezer Danziger zt”l

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Rav Shelomoh Eliezer Danziger zt”l. He was 101 years old.

Rabbi Danziger was a rebbi for many years at Yeshiva Rabbi Shamshon Raphael Hirsch in Washington Heights, New York.

Rabbi Danziger learned in his youth under Rav Dovid Lifshitz, longtime rosh yeshiva at Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchok Elchonon, and under Rav Dovid Leibowitz, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Chofetz Chaim.

Rabbi Danziger was an outstanding talmid chochom and mechanech who truly loved and cared for his talmidim, who were inspired by his ahavas haTorah and his gentle demeanor.

Throughout his life, Rabbi Danziger was a paragon of middos tovos, his sterling character making a profound impression on one and all.

Rabbi Danziger lived for the last few decades in Lakewood, NJ.

Rabbi Danziger’s wife, Mrs. Bracha Danziger, passed away about ten years ago.

His is survived by his children, Rav Yehezkel Danziger, Editorial Director of ArtScroll’s Schottenstein Talmud; Mrs. Miriam Stavsky; Rav Hillel Danziger, Editor at ArtScroll/Mesorah; Rabbi Gamliel Danziger, Rabbi Yochanan Danziger, Rabbi Eliyohu Danziger, and Rabbi Avrohom Danziger; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The levayah will take place at 11 a.m. at the Congregation Sons of Israel Holocaust Memorial Chapel, located at 613 Ramsey Street, in Lakewood, NJ. The aron will then be flown to Eretz Yisroel for kevurah in on Har Hamenuchos in Yerushalayim on Friday morning.

Shiva in the US will begin Sunday night, ending Thursday morning, at 1185 Monmouth Avenue in Lakewood, NJ.
