It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the sudden petirah of Reb Mordechai Eliyahu Friedman z”l. He was 64.
A son of Reb Chaim Aizik and Leah Friedman, Reb Mordechai learned at Yeshivas Telz-Chicago, where he drew close to the roshei yeshiva, Rav Avrohom Chaim Levin and Rav Chaim Dov Keller. He then learned at Mirrer Yeshiva in Brooklyn and at Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim.
He married Miriam Herzog, a daughter of Rabbi and Mrs. Feish Herzog.
Reb Mordechai was very close to the Novominsker Rebbe and to Rav Shaul Brus, whose shiurim he would attend.
Reb Mordechai was a noted baal chesed, with a heart overflowing with ahavas Yisroel.
He was niftar this morning, leaving family and friends in shock.
The levayah will be held at 5 p.m. at the Novominsker Bais Medrash, located at 1644 48th Strete in Boro Park, followed by a levayah at the Congregation Sons of Israel Holocaust Memorial Chapel, located at 613 Ramsey Avenue in Lakewood, NJ, and kevurah in the adjacent Mount Sinai Bais Hachaim.
Yehi zichro boruch.
