In the ongoing conflict between IDF soldiers and the Hamas terror group in the Gaza Strip, numerous structures have been set ablaze, rendering them unsuitable for use, as per reports from Hebrew media outlets citing firsthand accounts from troops on the battlefield.

According to testimonies given by soldiers on the ground, the method of torching buildings was adopted due to a shortage of demolition charges, with some instances allegedly driven by retaliatory motives, as reported by Haaretz. The IDF clarified that only authorized methods for building destruction are endorsed, and any unauthorized actions will be investigated.

Ynet disclosed that soldiers resorted to burning down homes of terror operatives or structures housing weapons to conserve limited demolition explosives. The shortage had been concealed by military censorship until it became evident that Gaza housed an extensive network of terror infrastructure within various buildings.

The impromptu practice of setting buildings on fire reportedly originated in a unit operating in Gaza’s Shejaiya neighborhood. Although commanding officers of that unit ordered a halt after discovering the practice, it spread to other areas and units, evoking differing responses from commanders on its acceptability.

One officer justified the approach, stating, “We do this, so that the clouds of smoke can be seen far across Gaza and deter the Gaza population.” He emphasized that each targeted house was thoroughly confirmed to be associated with military activities, given the extensive use of civilian structures by Hamas for combat purposes.

Soldiers described the method involving gathering furniture in a room and igniting it to maximize damage. The IDF, having already utilized significant amounts of engineering explosives in Gaza, recently acquired additional demolition explosives and mines for dismantling terror infrastructure.

The conflict, ignited on October 7 by Hamas-led attacks, prompted a massive Israeli military response. Haaretz alleged that the practice of setting premises ablaze had become more widespread than initially intended, with videos circulating on social media suggesting revenge motivations or connections to the October 7 attacks.

Responding to the reports, the IDF stated that authorized means are employed for detonation and destruction, and any deviations will be scrutinized. Haaretz mentioned that the US had requested Israel to cease demolishing public buildings in Gaza, expressing concerns about hindering post-war rehabilitation efforts. The IDF acknowledged potential issues arising from setting fire to buildings and its implications in international forums.

In November, the UN special rapporteur warned that Israel’s extensive damage to Gaza buildings might constitute a war crime. Israel contends that such destruction is a response to Hamas using civilians as shields and conducting military operations within residential areas.

  1. The Israeli army and government need to stop defending themselves all the time. It makes them vulnerable to more attacks. They should learn from Putin who was criticized constantly yet he never defended himself and now you hear crickets…

  2. Reports Say IDF Soldiers Have Torched Hundreds of EMPTY Buildings In Gaza. Are these empty the terrorists?

  3. Law Firm Seeking Clients:

My law firm seeks potential claimants from the residents of Dresden, Germany who resided there before the Allies firebombed the city to ashes. We also seek clients who were residents of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan on the Atom Bomb Days, or who are descendants of those city residents who were collateral vaporization there on those days. Perhaps the Allies caused some disproportionate property damage in those cities and caused excessive civilian deaths.

Descendants of the above three claimant groups may also be considered members of the claimant class in our planned class action litigation. Certainly, some German and Japanese civilians, sadly became unavoidable collateral damage of course with no Air Force remorse.

Why is it that the same United States which intentionally initiated urban renewal in those aforementioned three cities now expresses disapproval with the manner the IDF is conducting its war against the genocidal, maniacal Hamas?

Before my democratic brothers and sisters vote for Vice President Kamala Harris again, they should move the first letter in her first name to the end of her first name and read it out loud.
