Jewish Democrats are backing Rep. Hakeem Jeffries and Republicans are calling on him to explain himself, following a report that the Democratic House minority leader defended Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and an uncle of his who had made antisemitic comments in the 1990s, JTA reports.

Then the chair of the Black Studies Department at the City University of New York, Jeffries wrote in a student newspaper, “Dr. Leonard Jeffries and Minister Louis Farrakhan have come under intense fire. Where do you think their interests lie? Dr. Jeffries has challenged the existing white supremist educational system and long standing distortion of history. His reward has been a media lynching complete with character assassinations and inflammatory erroneous accusations.”

“Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries owes the Jewish community an explanation as to why he lied and attempted to cover up his defense of these revolting antisemites,” Republican Jewish Coalition CEO Matt Brooks, and its national chairman, former Sen. Norm Coleman, said in a statement.

  1. I think that Congressman Jeffries should step down. He has proven that he longer represents his Jewish constituents. We can not stand by while the blacks rail against the Jews. For shame.

    • That’s why you have to do your own research. Don’t listen to what these know-nothing, self-serving “chashuva” askanim tell you to do. Everyone has an agenda. You do the research on each and every candidate before you vote for him. Schvartzes are schvartzes and think differently than we do. All Goyim think differently than we do. We need to vote for candidates who are aware of our interests and needs and will support us. Here and there you’ll find a good candidate but most candidates, in general are looking to fill their own pockets. Do research and then Vote for the best candidate.
