The Supreme Court has upheld a high school football coach’s right to pray and lead students in prayer during school events in a 6-3 ruling today.

The coach, Joseph Kennedy, sued when he lost his job in Washington state’s Bremerton School District after he would take to the field to pray at the 50-yard line at the end of school football games. The school contended that Kennedy, whose lone prayers evolved into lengthier rituals that included holding up helmets from both teams and delivering long speeches, violated district policy relating to religious expression while performing his duties as an employee. However, the court sided with Kennedy in ruling that the district violated his First Amendment rights under the free speech and free exercise clauses. Read more at The New York Times.

    • Only if you think that forcing Jews to participate in Christian prayers is a good thing. Besides Justice Gorsuch blatantly lied in his opinion — so blatantly that the Decision may set no precedent.

  1. Dunk it. Keep your jewish kid off the team.

When we are in the world of rough sports, they might need to bring the church to the fifty yard line.

Generally, this one feels bar room beginning.

    • The problem is that this isn’t going to apply just to football teams. The decision is so broad that anyone in a position of authority can now force Jewish students to listen to Christian prayers.

      • You’re a complete legal ignoramus so please stick to your supposed specialty as a medical unprofessional who doesn’t know the difference between the genders.

  2. In lawless America where the public is going mad that they will not be able to murder babies anymore, praying to G-d is a terrible crime.

  3. You’re a complete legal ignoramus so please stick to your supposed specialty as a medical unprofessional who doesn’t know the difference between the genders.

  4. I think that the right to pray is a good thing. But what they are trying in sports is a parlay on whether God loves them for their entitled position in the scam of good credit, great conduct or better yet just the physical luck their sport goes well.

The luck they have a church is nice. They can go there and pray and talk about the problems in their team, community and schools. That is how this country works.

This is an asinine decision and I think it is more than a cast of bad light on sports, family and the goodness of sportsman conduct. It is likely one that will be overturned in the future I think.
